Using Technology Does Not Mean You Know Anything About It.

The good people staffing the computer help desk are sort of like new age mechanics. You may know how to turn on your television or computer, but when problems pop up you can leave the fixing to the people who know what they are doing. Every day new advancements are made, and they are the ones that keep track of it all, the new updates, downloads, and product model numbers.
An LED backlight is rather self-explanatory. There is not much technical jargon involved here. While most people are not in the habit of thinking about them, we use them everyday. They are in your computers, your laptops, and your televisions.
You may be in the habit of using the most up to date technology every day and not even realize it. Take custom LCD, the words might mean nothing to you, but chances are that you see it and take it in every day. As long as it is working you do not really care what it is called or how it works.
Chances are you have used graphic LCD before, but have no idea about it. Many of the product descriptions that are used today sound like a foreign language. The jargon that goes with the world of technology can be very intimidating to those that can barely consider themselves to be computer literate.
Just listening to all of the technical language that readily pours from other people can leave others wondering if they had entered another country and not known it. Why that is may remain a mystery forever. It is not as though this is the only field with a specific set of vocabulary. Others, such as those in the medical, or in insurance, have their own language too, yet we are not particularly intimidated by it. The fact that this language is constantly evolving and changing may have something to do with it.
What does it really mean for most people? It means not being able to fix the problems as they arise. It means that you have to call in a specialist, someone that knows what they are doing. You can not be your own mechanic in this world, the technology has changed too much.
When you stop and really think about the amount of technology that we encounter everyday you may be surprised. It seems that one thing replaced another, and then that was improved, and upgraded, until it no longer resembles the original at all. Somewhere along the lines most of us stopped noticing.
